Recently, the prevailing wisdom about maintaining weight loss has been that a slower, steadier method of dropping pounds is the greatest method to keep that

The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Melbourne in Australia, discovered that obese individuals who lose weight gradually are just as

Among the groups that stick to those guidelines is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Based on the CDC, "evidence shows that individuals who
lose weight gradually and steadily (about One to two pounds per week) are more successful at keeping weight off." The Mayo Clinic's website on weight loss
states that "over the long run, it is best to strive for losing 1 to 2 pounds per week." And a 2011 study published within the journal Obesity discovered
that the drastic decrease in food intake by obese people could undermine weight loss by altering brain chemistry, based on the website Futurity.
In the Australian study, several 200 obese adults were randomly allotted to either a 36-week gradual weight-loss program or a 12-week low-calorie weight-loss
program, and given the job of losing greater than 12.5 percent of their body weight.
What researchers found, HealthDay reports, is the fact that more and more people within the rapid weight-loss group could make that happen goal. After a
weight three-year weight-maintenance program, roughly 70 % of participants both in groups regained the lost weight, based on Forbes.
Dr. Susan Jebb, a professor of diet and population health in the University of Oxford, told The Guardian that in line with the research, doctors should feel

Although not all nutrition researchers will accept that conclusion, especially since, ultimately, both groups were equally unsuccessful to keep the weight
off.
In a commentary within the Journal of the Ama and an opinion piece that appeared within the Ny Times captured, Harvard researcher and obesity expert Dr.
David Ludwig and Mark Friedman of the Nutrition Science Initiative claim that counting calories is the wrong way to fight the obesity epidemic. They wrote in
the Times that "diets that depend on consciously reducing calories don't usually work" because studies have shown that reducing calories increases hunger and
decelerates metabolism. They argue that obesity treatment should focus more on the quality of the diet than the quantity of calories consumed.

At least half the girls within my class have been receiving an eating plan. There are even several who simply do not eat in school anymore. The thing is, these girls aren't really, really skinny, so they must get your meals at home.
I hate my face -- it's too chubby -- although I guess my long, dark hair is nice I quite like my hazel eyes. I even like wearing glasses as I think they suit me.
Even when I had been 12, a lot of the others wore a lot of make-up to school, but I've never been that kind of girl. I've kicked back against that, however, you definitely feel pressure to look 'pretty'.

A few years ago, at my old school, I had been bullied badly about my spotty skin, the fact I'm tall and also have got hair on my arms. This made me feel paranoid, self-conscious and anxious around other people, and so i moved schools. I feel better now and never so judged, but I'm conscious after i am spotty and compare myself with other people.

Carolyn Aissaoui, from Aberdare, tipped the scales at 22st but is now a trim 14st and it is her local Slimming World's Woman Of The Year

A slimmer from Aberdare who has lost eight stone in Twelve months has revealed how she was close to tears when her daughter could finally Magic Slim put her hands around her for any hug.

Carolyn Aissaoui, from Trefelin in Aberdare, tipped the scales at 22st but has become a trim 14st after turning her lifetime around thanks to the support of her family.

However, she knew she was doing what's right when after losing two stone, a hug from her young daughter Nadia almost reduced her to tears.

"The biggest moment when I look back through all of this was your day when Nadia, who is a lovely cwtchy young girl found produce a hug and said 'mum my hands work with you.' It was such an emotional moment, I had been near to tears," said Carolyn, whose weight loss has led her to be crowned her local Slimming World's Woman Of The Year.

After having her daughter 10 years ago, a combination of depression, back pain and high blood pressure led to the 51-year-old's weight ballooning and also to her becoming withdrawn from society, but a birthday shock was all she required to turn her lifetime around.

"I had to deal with high blood pressure, got put on tablets. Due to the blood pressure tablets, I was getting headaches. I lost my mum to some brain tumour and that i thought I had the same thing.

"I started to get depressed and got put on depression tablets. I also suffered with back pain coupled with a trapped nerve within my neck.

"As a result of all, i didn't want to get out there and I wouldn't go anywhere unless someone came with me. I became quite withdrawn. It had been difficult to take my daughter to school.

"She suffers with ADHD and she's always drawing attention to herself. That embarrassed me since i thought people didn't think I had been taking care of her properly because of my size. I know that isn't what individuals were thinking but it was what I was thinking.

"Me and my sons are all big football fanatics and we'd go through a crate of beer and takeaways around the weekend watching football. We accustomed to socialise in the house because I wouldn't wish to go out.

"I had my 50th birthday last July and that i was buying dresses to suit me not that I personally liked," added Carolyn, who also has three developed sons.

"I saw a pretty dress that I liked, however when I saw the images of me it looked like a tent. I needed to be fit for my grandchildren and my daughter. I knew the time had come to make a change."

With prompting from her daughter-in-law Emma, she plucked up the courage to attend her first class at Slimming World in Aberdare.

"When I walked through the door with my head down, it was the hardest situation ever. After i was weighed, I figured I had been 21st however when I discovered I had been 22st 7llbs, I figured I've made the best choice.

"I followed the Slimming World plan and that i lost two pounds within the first week. Then I lost six pounds the next week and received my first half stone loss award.

"From there I never looked back, even over Christmas I was so worried about not being able to stick to the plan however i was so surprised. I kept right to the program and continued to shed weight over Christmas and Year."

Buying a treadmill and an stationary bike, Carolyn, who's separated, said she could feel her lifetime changing - on all fronts, as her confidence grew.

"I worked out regularly and I found the courage to update my status on Facebook, telling everyone what I was doing. The positive comments from people and not missing just one meeting of Slimming World provided all the motivation I needed to 2 Day Diet help keep going.

Armstrong continued saying: "The haters though, they just drive me. It makes me wish to prove them wrong.

"I've been selling lots of tickets, however i know many will be coming to see me get knocked out. That makes me even more determined.

"It does make me nervous, however it drives me. I can't be embarrassed like that. I have to win this to demonstrate I am not a tale.

Johnson said: "We got to know each other with the boxing, but now I consider him a really good friend. He is not just a funny guy on Facebook, he's a very nice lad and he has time for everyone.

Slimmers should forget what they've learned about avoiding rapid weight loss in favour of slow but sure dieting, based on research.

The most recent evidence suggests the concept that shedding too many kilos too fast leads to a cycle of 'yo-yo' dieting is a myth.

The findings contradict current dietary recommendations that favour slow and steady weight loss.

Australian researcher Katrina Purcell, in the University of Melbourne, said: "Across the world, guidelines recommend gradual weight reduction to treat obesity, reflecting the widely held belief that fast weight loss is much more quickly regained.
"However, our results show that achieving a diet target of 12.5 percent is more likely, and drop-out is gloomier, if slimming down is done quickly."
The study looked at 200 obese adults who were randomly allotted to one of two slimming diets.
One was a 12-week quick weight loss (RWL) programme on the strict diet of 450 to 800 calories each day.
The other would be a 36-week gradual weight loss (GWL) programme which reduced energy intake by around 500 calories a day according to current guidelines.
Participants who lost greater than 12.5 per cent of the bodyweight were then put on fat loss maintenance diet for three years.
Those found on the rapid diet were more likely to meet their slimming target, with 81 per cent from the group shedding at least 12.5 percent of body weight.
In comparison, only half of the gradual slimmers achieved this goal.
Weight regain was about exactly the same for both sets of participants on the maintenance diet. Every time, about 71 per cent of lost weight was restored after 3 years.
Writing in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology journal, the authors suggested the limited carbohydrate consumption of very-low-calorie diets may force the body to lose fat. Breakdown products of fat burning, called ketones, can suppress feelings of hunger.
Slimming down quickly might also motivate individuals to persist with dieting and get better results, the researchers said.
Commenting around the research in the journal, Corbin Martin and Kishore Gadde, from Pennington Biomedical Research Centre in Baton Rouge, the united states, wrote: "The study indicates that for weight loss, a slow and steady approach does not win the race, and the myth that quick weight loss is assigned to rapid weight regain isn't any more true than Aesop's (tortoise andhare) fable.
"Clinicians should be aware that different weight loss approaches might be suitable for different patients in the management of clinical obesity, which efforts to curb the rate of initial weight loss might hinder their ultimate weight reduction success."
