Eating disorders charity Beat has required a general change in regulations surrounding the sale of laxatives, following a 30% increase in fruta planta strong version calls from people with them in an unhealthy and potentially life-threatening way.

A study by BBC Watchdog found there aren't any restrictions to avoid people buying large quantities of laxatives, despite repeated warnings from charities about widespread abuse by young adults who use these to slim down.

BBC Watchdog sent 14-year-old actors into 25 branches of Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Asda and Boots to purchase three boxes of stimulant laxatives.

No actors were stopped or questioned by staff in any of the stores, despite purchasing a minimum of 60 tablets every time.

The eating disorders charity Beat said it warned five years ago that individuals, including teenagers, were using laxatives to shed weight.

Some 80% of those that had been affected by an eating disorder said they'd misused laxatives in order to lose weight, a survey by the charity found.

Laxative abuse can cause diarrhoea, dehydration and electrolyte imbalances that can result in kidney failure.

It can also damage the liver and potentially damage the center, resulting in heart failure and death.

Beat is calling for restrictions to be put in place by supermarkets and retailers to reduce the convenience with which young adults can purchase laxatives in big amounts.

It's suggested the absolute minimum purchase age of 16, a maximum pack size reduced to 10 tablets, sales limited to pharmacies along with a warning label on packets.

Beat chief executive Susan Ringwood told BBC Watchdog: "Young people don't have to look far to locate these details. They turn to the internet. That's the first place they go to.

"We've seen a 30% rise in calls to our helplines over the last year where individuals have mentioned overusing laxatives in unhealthy way. Which does include a significant number of young people too."

Tesco, Asda and Morrisons said sales of laxatives were made according to regulations set through the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Boots UK director of professional standards, Steve Banks, said: "As a responsible pharmacy-led retailer we're concerned to hear from BBC Watchdog about Beat's report that there's been a boost in incidences of customers misusing laxatives.

"Providing safe use of medicines in line with current MHRA regulations, using the relevant healthcare advice and information available reaches the heart of what we all do."

He added: "We wish to provide support towards the small minority of consumers who misuse these products, while making sure that nearly all customers who use these medicines appropriately could achieve this.

"In response we will be providing further fruta planta pink training for our healthcare colleagues to allow them to better identify possible signs of misuse and provide further support and advice, including signposting people to further sources of help.

"On an issue such as this it is important that manufacturers, retailers and regulatory bodies work together to look at how you can respond and we'd welcome being involved with a broader conversation about this topic to understand what further action could be agreed."

Research published now within the Journal from the American College of Nutrition shows that people can eat potatoes and still lose weight.

"There isn't any evidence that potatoes, when prepared in a healthful manner, contribute to putting on weight. In fact, we are seeing that they can participate a weight loss program," said Burton-Freeman.

Interestingly, even the control group reduced their calorie intake and dropped a few pounds despite not supplied with a particular calorie restriction. "The proven fact that all groups, the control group, dropped a few pounds is a curious finding and offers cause for future research," said co-investigator Dr. Tissa Kappagoda, MD, PhD.

The research answers are great news for potato lovers and any consumer who craves the satisfaction of wholesome yet healthy meal options. One medium-size (5.3 ounce) skin-on potato contains just 110 calories per serving, boasts more meizitang new potassium (620g) than the usual banana, provides nearly half the daily value of vitamin C (45 percent), and contains no fat, sodium or cholesterol.

Fall is here now and winter is approaching. Are you planning to feed your dog the same quantity of food as you did this spring and summer? Why? Are you planning to feed the same food? Why? How Less Daylight Affects Weight

Decreasing daylight means less opportunity to exercise and it has exactly the same effect as lowered temperatures. After i look in the mirror I see a classic, fat, bald guy, having a broken nose. I am the antithesis of a TV guy. If RTE continue to employ me, it's in my mind, not my body system.

I have attended more than 75 Zumba classes in the past year and that i enjoy these workouts. I feel more energetic and stronger. I like it's dance and i also will keep up or slow down as my knees allow. I would say I love Zumba, except for the deafening level of the background music.

When he was in his 40s, a doctor told Mel Zuckerman that he was essentially residing in an appearance of a 65- to 70-year-old -- along with a very unhealthy one. Zuckerman was asthmatic, overweight and in poor condition however this age of ready to make a change to save his life.

Ever determined, he enrolled in a workout program in a health resort in California. What changed everything was meeting fitness director Karma Kientzler. "I was blessed,"says Zuckerman. After orientation, Kientzler. found Zuckerman and asked, 'why are you here? I just read body gestures and you seem you'd rather be been anywhere else.' Zuckerman replied, "I need to lose weight. I'm afraid I will die basically don't change my lifestyle. But I'm an asthmatic, I can not exercise." But Kientzler wouldn't purchase it. "You can't exercise because you're an asthmatic?!!!," she asked. "That's a bunch of cocky-poo."

Step by step, Kientzler. got Zuckerman to walk then jog, walk then jog. She taught him breathing and stretching exercises. She was undeterred. On their own 10th day working together, they jogged a-mile-and-a-half in 11 minutes and 38 seconds. And within Four weeks, Zuckerman lost 29 pounds and was jogging three miles each day in an eight minute mile pace."I felt like I had never felt in my life. That I could do anything," offers Zuckerman. "I told my spouse Enid, I wish to feel this way forever. Here' had to be excused from gym from the 3rd grade on. I could not inflict sports I loved. Following a lifetime of believing I'd not be well or comfortable within my body, I came away knowing that I had the power to make a lasting change in my health." In fact, he felt so transformed ad inspired,soon after came home, he sold off his building business. His mission was to produce a place that would foster this healthy way of life and give others all of the tools they have to change their lives as he did.

Zuckerman couldn't get financing from banks. "I said I wanted to show people to eat healthy food and and we weren't going to serve booze," he remembers. "That turned them off immediately. 'You're going to develop a resort and can't obtain a cocktail?!,' they asked." Risking nearly everything, he and Enid, bought a classic, dilapidated dude ranch within the majestic Sonoran Desert. "As we walked down a flagstone path near he sagging ranch house, we knew there is something there that was easy to overlook should you focused just on the tumbleweeds and musty jacuzzi," recalls Zuckerman as he first set eyes on the place. "The eucalyptus tress across the creek were shining green and also the crags of Mount Lemmon separated itself against a deep blue sky." They renovated and Canyon Ranch was created.

The very first week they opened in December 1979 Canyon Ranch had eight guests and 88 employees. They had registered dietitians, a diet blessed by the nutrition department from the University of Arizona and an on staff exercise physiologist - that was unusual back then. Karma Kientzler was brought in to mold the exercise program. With no marketing, simply by person to person, people started to come. Barbara Streisand, Donna Karan and other stars came. Recently one woman approached him and shared, "I wanted to appreciate creating Canyon Ranch. I desired a location like this to be able to heal."
