Can You Still Eat Potatoes And Lose Weight?

Research published now within the Journal from the American College of Nutrition shows that people can eat potatoes and still lose weight.

The study, a collaborative effort between the University of California at Davis and also the Illinois Institute of Technology, sought to meizitang strong achieve a much better knowledge of the role of calorie reduction and the index list in weight reduction when potatoes are included in the diet.

Ninety overweight women and men were randomly allotted to 1 of 3 groups: (1) reduced calorie/high GI, (2) reduced calorie/low GI, (3) control group without any calorie or GI restrictions. The 3 groups were provided potatoes, healthful recipes and directions to eat 5-7 areas of potatoes each week. At the end of the 12-week study period, they found that the 3 groups had dropped a few pounds there was no factor in weight loss between the groups.

"There isn't any evidence that potatoes, when prepared in a healthful manner, contribute to putting on weight. In fact, we are seeing that they can participate a weight loss program," said Burton-Freeman.

Interestingly, even the control group reduced their calorie intake and dropped a few pounds despite not supplied with a particular calorie restriction. "The proven fact that all groups, the control group, dropped a few pounds is a curious finding and offers cause for future research," said co-investigator Dr. Tissa Kappagoda, MD, PhD.

The research answers are great news for potato lovers and any consumer who craves the satisfaction of wholesome yet healthy meal options. One medium-size (5.3 ounce) skin-on potato contains just 110 calories per serving, boasts more meizitang new potassium (620g) than the usual banana, provides nearly half the daily value of vitamin C (45 percent), and contains no fat, sodium or cholesterol.
